Song Saa Private Island Resort

In Cambodia’s Koh Rong archipelago, the islands of Koh Ouen and Koh Bong lie side by side, connected by a footbridge. The islands are known locally as Song Saa, Khmer for “The Sweethearts”. Song Saa Resort spans the two islands and sits in Cambodia’s first marine reserve, which make it the perfect spot for luxury overwater bungalows. With breathtaking sunset views of the Gulf of Thailand, Song Sea Resort encourages guests to connect with the environment and tune into simple luxuries.

Ala carte and all-inclusive packages are available at Song Saa Resort. The all-inclusive package provides three meals, unlimited snacks, house beverages (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic), In Villa dining, a 30 minute morning foot ritual and head, neck, and shoulder massage for each guest,  three pieces of laundry per day per guest, airport transfers, a local village tour, use of snorkel gear at Song Saa’s House Reef, and a 10% discount on motorized water sports.

Song Saa operates on its own “island time” where clocks are set forward one hour to allow guests to enjoy the sunrise at a more well-rested time. The resort’s boats, used for arrivals and departures, run on mainland time to avoid confusion with flight schedules.

There are 24 private villas, comprised of a mix of overwater bungalows, jungle and ocean-view villas. Villas are built with local materials, like reclaimed timber and other materials from the Cambodian mainland along with salvaged wood from old fishing boats, and decorated with local art. Each open plan villa comes with a private pool, outdoor deck with daybed, sunken bathtub, flat screen tv, surround sound system with iPhone and Android docking, and access to high speed WiFi. Thatch roof, canopy beds and upcycled decor truly drive home the resort’s commitment to sustainability and luxury.

Jungle and overwater bungalow villas come in one or two-bedroom floor plans, while ocean view villas are available with one bedroom. The two bedroom overwater bungalow Royal Villa is the largest and most private villa on the island. In addition to the standard amenities, the Royal Villa features a kitchen with a mojito making station, indoor dining, and a dedicated guest ambassador to ensure your stay is all you dreamed.

Song Saa’s spa integrates the wellness journey into the environment utilizing a “spa with no” walls concept. Little treatment sanctuaries are nestled amongst nature in various spots throughout the island. The spa philosophy embraces the Buddhist tradition “metta bhavana”, which is the culture of loving kindness. Honoring this philosophy, the spa venue is divided into three themes: stillness, healing, and blessings. Modern and traditional Khmer therapists, as well as yoga, reiki, and meditation gurus make up the spa’s staff. Products and treatments are artisan created and use sustainable local natural ingredients that are sustainable.
