Located on Motu Tiano, an islet in the Tuamotu, about 15 minutes away from the village of Tikehau, the Tikehau Pearl Beach Resort is just two hours away from Papeete, but feels like it’s worlds away. Tikehau means peaceful landing and nestled in a wild coconut grove on a pink sand beach in a 16-mile long lagoon, it’s easy to see how it got its name.

Accommodations

The resort has just 37 bungalows: 12 beach bungalows, 1 beach villa, and 24 overwater bungalows and suites. Bungalows are designed in Polynesian style with thatch roofs and local wood. Glass windows in the floor of the overwater bungalows allow for viewing of the marine life below.

WiFi is only available in the reception and restaurant areas of the resort.

Activities

Two neighboring motus are left in their pristine state, allowing guests to experience Tahiti as it once was with just a short walk through the crystal clear lagoon waters. Picnic on a motu, snorkel, take a sunset cruise, or ride a bike through the local village. The resort also offers petanque, badminton, beach volleyball, and table tennis. Lounge in solitude on the deck of your overwater bungalow or head to the infinity pool for a more social sunning and swimming experience.

The resort has one restaurant, Restaurant Poreho, and one bar, Bar Tianoa. Overlooking the lagoon, the Poreho Restaurant, features Polynesian and European fusion cuisine. Local ingredients are heavily featured on the menu, which includes classic Tahitian dishes like Poisson Cru and Italian favorites like Lasagna Bolognese. Its location near the freshwater infinity pool makes Bar Tianoa the ideal spot for evening cocktails
