Lexis Hibiscus Port Dickson, Malaysia
Named after the national flower of Malaysia, the Lexis Hibiscus Port Dickinson Resort holds the Guinness World Record for the most swimming pools and the most overwater bungalows in a single resort. Opened in April 2015 on Port Dickinson’s Pasir Panjang Beach in the Straits of Malacca, the sprawling resort boasts 522 overwater bungalows and 643 pools.

The resort’s 522 overwater bungalows make up the bulk of their 639 rooms. An additional 117 luxury suites are situated in the hotel’s main tower. Book a tower room and ask for a high floor if you want a bird’s eye view of the hibiscus-shaped walkways that lead to the overwater bungalows.
Looking for pretty Polynesian style overwater bungalows with thatch roofs? You won’t find those there. The overwater bungalows at the Lexis Hibiscus are modern with sleek turquoise-accented white exteriors. Each comes with its own private steam room and plunge pool, but there’s no water access from your private deck. The interior furnishings match the modern vibe. The bungalows are quite close together and your views are often of other bungalows, so book an upgraded unobstructed ocean view for the prettiest scenery and most privacy.
It’s no secret that the resort is sprawling, and getting from point A to point B can be a chore. Buggy service is available on the property, but is notoriously bad. The transportation department is hard to get in touch with to arrange for a buggy and once you do, wait times can be 30 minutes to an hour or more for a trip that would take you 10 minutes to walk. So if you’re able, skip the shuttle and take a stroll instead.
Like most waterfront resorts, Lexis Hibiscus offers banana boat rides, jet skis, kayaks, and a beach to lounge on. Unique amenities include a Karaoke lounge, archery range, and Segway rentals. A game room, gym, and bicycle rentals offer additional activity options and a helicopter tour can be arranged to get a bird’s eye view of the hibiscus-shaped walkways that make up the resort.
The resort has numerous bars, including the Sky Lite Bar, Lighthouse Bar, and Pool Bar to satisfy your thirst. Dining options include UMI Japanese Restaurant and Yuan Chinese Cuisine, along with Wave Dining, which offers Western style cuisine and Roselle Coffee House, which offers breakfast and international favorites. Baked goods and sandwiches, along with beverages can be found at Coralz Bistro and Captain Lounge.
Lex Spa offers a variety of massage and beauty treatments in private rooms.
From an Intimate wedding ceremony in the Presidential suite to a beachside ceremony and wedding reception to ballroom banquets, the Lexis Hibiscus Port Dickinson has an endless array of wedding options to choose from.
