Overwater Bar | Cloud 9 Fiji
Cloud 9 Fiji
It looks like a mirage. Too good to be true. But it’s not. Cloud 9 Fiji is a man-made floating bar located on the Ro Ro Reef in the Mamanuca Islands group.
Accessible by a 45 minute speedboat ride from Port Denarau the floating bar is the ideal place to swim, snorkel, sun, and drink the day away. With 360 degree ocean views of the stunning South Pacific is an Instagrammers paradise. The two-story structure features upper and lower decks with sun beds and hanging chairs and accommodates up to 100 people.
Jump from the top deck and swim or snorkel around the structure, making sure to grab you GoPro for fun photo and video options. The snorkeling is not particularly impressive, just white sand and rocks and fish are hard to come by, so go for the drinking (the bar is top-shelf and includes Fiji Gold, Fiji Bitter, and Fiji Rum Co.), sunning, and selfie opportunities. A host of international DJs rotate through, spinning tunes to entertain guests.
If you get bored of lounging, you can also book water toys for an extra fee. Jet skis, motorized surfboards, and fly boards are available, or take parasailing trip or an excursion to nearby Modriki Island where Castaway was filmed.
A full house in a small space means it can get crowded at times, so the Italian wood-fired pizza (the only food option) can take a while, particularly around lunchtime. Vegetarian and gluten free pizzas are available.
If crowds aren’t your jam and you’re feeling flush, you can book the entire bar for $5k for a private experience.
Marine toilets are available on board. The bar uses only solar power and is a zero carbon emitting facility. No waste is distributed into the ocean,
While the staff will help wheelchair passengers from the boat to Cloud 9, the toilets are not handicap accessible and the ladder from the water to the platform is also less than ideal for disabled individuals.
Smoking is permitted on board.
There are shady sections of the deck so you don’t cook yourself like a wood-fired pizza.
No cash is accepted. Credit cards (local and international) are accepted.
Bring your own snorkel gear unless you want to spend $15 (plus a refundable deposit) to use their masks. Fins are free for use.
