Daytona Beach, Florida

Daytona Beach, Florida

Located on Florida’s Atlantic Coast, approximately 50 miles from the theme park hustle and bustle of Orlando, Daytona Beach is the perfect beach break from your Disney vacation.

Daytona Beach encompasses 23 miles of white sand beaches with no beach access fees. The sand is hard packed and in certain areas, tides permitting, you can drive and park on the beach, which means no lugging your beach chairs miles from your car to the sand.

If you’re burned out on baking in the sun and splashing in the surf, head to the Daytona Beach Boardwalk & Pier or Joyland Amusement Center for family-friendly entertainment, including rides and arcades. During the summer (Memorial Day through Labor Day) there’s fireworks every Saturday night at the Pier.  If fishing is more your cup of tea, head to Sunglow pier, where you can rent poles at the bait shack and catch anything from Whiting and Pompano to Trout and Sheep’s Head.

Beyond the beach, Daytona is known for the Daytona International Speedway, which hosts the Daytona 500 NASCAR race in February, and the Ladies Professional Golf Association. Expect high crowds and crazy traffic during NASCAR races and in March during Daytona Bike Week.
