Grab 17 friends and rent the entire island or just cozy up with that special someone for the week in the resort’s token overwater bungalow, Casa Ventanas. The 1,100 square-foot one-room bungalow is located at the end of a private dock over the ocean and features a custom furnishings and windows on all sides that you can throw open to enjoy the ocean breezes.

The open plan villas at this five-star resort are breezy and accented with bright turquoise shutters, making them feel like your own little Caribbean home. With the exception of Casa Ventanas, all villas have their own private heated plunge pool, perfect for a dip with stunning sea views.

All villas have access to a lending library and CD/DVD selection and there’s free WiFi throughout the island so you can stream till your heart’s content. Butler service, Yves Delorme linens and Lady Primrose toiletries make your stay a luxurious experience.

Guests receive a food questionnaire from the resort prior to their trip to ensure that culinary desires are met and award-winning chef Patrick Houghton meets with guests at the beginning of their stay to further customize a bespoke menu.

The resort has no restaurant and meals - and cocktails - are served in and around your villa. Private picnics can also be arranged. Simply coordinate a meal schedule with your houseman (who’s on call 24 hours a day) or ring them up to have a cocktail delivered (we’re big fans of the bright blue Espanto Wave).

Burn off some of those delicious calories by taking out a kayak for a quick paddle around the tiny island. Bone fishing is popular in the region and can be done from Cayo Espanto’s shallows. Boat trips to Belize’s Shark Ray Alley and Ambergris Caye can be arranged and for the more adventurous, a helicopter trip to Belize’s Blue Hole.
